Elijah Rising is ending human trafficking by equipping a new breed of justice warrior for prayer, awareness, and intervention in the spirit of Isaiah 1:17. “Learn to do good. Seek justice. Rebuke the oppressor. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow.” Isaiah 1:17
Location(s) Where We Work
The city of Houston, Texas and surrounding areas
We began under the banner of Exodus Cry in Kansas City, producers of the award winning documentary Nefarious: Merchant of Souls. We started in 2010 as a once-a-month prayer meeting, and we have become increasingly convinced that, unless angels and demons move on the issue of sex trafficking, all of our human efforts will be futile. We cover at least eight hours a week of joyful, musician-led prayer for the ending of slavery in our city.
We offer van tours to increase awareness and we conduct interventions that increase the points of initial contact with women and children who are caught in the cruel intersection of a hyper-sexualized culture and the vulnerabilities of social oppression. Elijah Rising is part of a city-wide, city-owned justice prayer movement, built on an apostolic / prophetic foundation, with an eye toward a night and day, musician-led expression of victory over sex trafficking. The movement is rooted in the worth of Jesus Christ and is operating with a growing understanding that we are in the epic, end-times battle that is described in the Book of Revelation.
Three avenues of our ministry:
Awareness Van Tour
A primer on the issue of human trafficking, this tour takes you to high probability sites and explains the logistics of the commercial sex trade.
Nefarious: Merchant of Souls Documentary
A hard-hitting documentary that exposes disturbing trends in modern sex slavery produced by Exodus Cry Kansas City.
Increasing the points of initial contact with women in the commercial sex trades through outreach in various venues such as strip clubs, brothels and “Houston Back Page.”
Our Partnership with Secor.cc
Elijah Rising is pleased to partner with marketplace ministries that use their business to advance the cause of justice in our city. Secor is a promising start-up that is taking the city, the state and the nation by storm, and shrewdly using the profits to help end sex trafficking / commercial sexual exploitation.
